Fn Browning 1922 Serial Numbers

It is serial 199XXX and has matching numbers on frame, barrel, slide, and slide extension. It has three Waffen stamps (Frame, slide, barrel) but none are crisp. I'll post some pictures when I get some good ones. The reason for my post is FN 1922 serial numbers are confusing to me and I've never seen a definitive list. Feb 27, 2011  FN Browning 1922 Curios and Relics. Serial numbering on the M1922 is chaotic. Regular series production started at 200,000, but many contract purchasers insisted on their own serial number range for inventory control.

  1. To find your serial number, you will need to refer to your owner's manual. We have most owner's manuals online. While every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided on serial numbers and dates of manufacture are accurate, records on early production models such as the Auto-5 and Superposed shotguns were not included due to.
  2. Description: This Browning FN 1922.32 ACP semi-auto is in 95% condition and there is the slightest loss of bluing on the barrel tip from normal wear, usage, holstering, etc. As you can see through the photos this 1922 is really a super immaculate collector's piece with a very low serial number of A7021.
  3. This FN Browning semi-automatic pistol has design characteristics that make it a transitional pistol or a trial pistol ordered by the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia in 1929). The FN Model 1922 was specifically designed for the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The long time Serbian military contractor FN was chosen to provide the newly formed independent state an.

Mar 14, 2009 - All serial numbers match, and they are somewhat lowish, I think: 317XX. You have a very nice 1922 Browning, the grips while very nice do not. The more I read, the more confused I get on those M1922 serial numbers. Easy Company Browning Owned by Ted D. This M1922 was put on the market in 1996 by MAJ Dick Winters of the now famous E Co, 1-506th PIR, 101st ABN DIV. The lucky owner also has several photos of MAJ Winters holding this pistol and you can make out the serial number in the pic.

Measuring but 6' overall in length and weighing just under 1 lb., 8 ozs., this semi-automatic became an instant hit, enjoying brisk civilian and police sales—though military interest in the piece was lukewarm at best. Things changed in 1922 when the gun was revamped by increasing the 1910's 3½' barrel length by an inch, which also required changes to the slide and slide extension. Later, the grip was extended to accommodate a magazine of greater capacity, increasing the original 1910's capacity of seven shots of.32 ACP and six shots of.380 ACP by two rounds each. Initially adopted by the Yugoslavian military (which was the prime mover in the gun's alterations), the 1922 gained momentum on the world market and was eventually used by police and/or armies in Belgium, Denmark, Finland France, Greece, Holland, Romania and Turkey. When the Germans overran Belgium in 1940, they commandeered the FN facilities and turned production to their own ends, incorporating the P35 High Power and Model 1922 into the Wehrmacht. Occupation-era Model 1922s will exhibit different acceptance marks (waffenamts) depending upon when a particular gun was manufactured.

Both.32 ACP and.380 ACP versions were issued. Early specimens, some of which were constructed of parts already on-hand when FN was taken over, sport a commercial-style finish and have black plastic stocks emblazoned with the 'FN' logo, while later pistols show a diminution of quality and are fitted with checkered walnut grips. German-issue 1922s have an eagle test proof, and some early guns may also be seen with Belgian proofs. Eventually some 363,200 1922s were built between 1940 and 1945.

The.32 ACP Model 1922 we are looking at here, having a serial number in the 20,000-23,000 range and a 'WaA613' acceptance stamp, indicates it was made in approximately 1941, and thus commands a premium. Newblue fx elements 3 ultimate. Condition is NRA Excellent, resulting in a value of $875. A similar gun in.380 ACP would be worth approximately 50 percent more.

Gun: FN Browning Model 1922 Manufacturer: Fabrique Nationale, Herstal, Belgium Chambering: 7.65 mm Browning (.32 ACP) Manufactured: 1941 Condition: NRA Excellent (Modern Gun Standards) Value: $875.

Mrd, It would be nice to see the other side but based on what I see and the serial I'd say this was a contract pistol manufactured in the 1930's. Perhaps you have a slide that has been change?

Does the serial on the slide match? Sometimes you'll see another serial on these contract pistols, usually in the 200,000 range.

Pull back the slide and look underneath in the slide rails for a serial number. KerryL is right, these 1922 pistols are difficult to establish manufacturing dates especially with just a single side view. But based on what I see (and the serial nr.) I'd say 1930-1939 manufacture for some government in Europe. FN sold to many countries and probably half the time used a separate serial range for these sales. If you find my answer helpful please 'click' on the green 'Applaud' or 'Thumbs up' Rating to the left. KerryL, Good question.

Development[edit]

The FN Model 1910, also known as the Browning model 1910, was a departure for Browning. Before, his designs were produced by both FN in Europe and Colt Firearms in the United States. Since Colt did not want to produce it, Browning chose to patent and produce this design in Europe only. Introduced in 1910, this pistol used a novel operating spring location surrounding the barrel. This location became the standard in such future weapons as the Walther PPK and Russian Makarov.

It incorporated the standard Browning striker-firing mechanism and a grip safety along with a magazine safety and an external safety lever (known as the 'triple safety') in a compact package. Offered in both .380 ACP (6-round magazine) and .32 ACP (7-round magazine) calibres, it remained in production until 1983. It is possible to switch calibres by changing only the barrel. However, FN never offered packages containing a single pistol with both calibre barrels.

Variants[edit]

FN Model 1922 7.65mm

A variant of the Model 1910 was known variously as the Model 1922 or 1910/22. This was a larger model with a longer barrel (113 mm), slide extension, and a longer grip frame to accommodate an extra two rounds. This model was aimed at military and police contracts and many examples were produced for various agencies. The FN Model 1910 was initially designed for the Kingdom of Serbia. In 1913, a purchase order for 235, Model 1910 semi automatic pistols was made by the Serbian National Army. The purchase was made for the 1st and 2nd Timok infantry divisions of the first army.

Prosper software crack. 1910/1922 pistols went on to see extensive service in World War Two, and continued to be manufactured by the Germans after their occupation of Belgium and seizure of the FN factory. These examples carry Nazi production stamps, and most have simple chequered wood grips instead of the earlier horn or plastic grips bearing the FN logo.

The FN Model 1922 was also used by the following countries: Yugoslavia (60,000 Automatski pistolj (Brauning) 9mm M.22 between 1923 and 1930),[1] The Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Romania, France, Finland, Denmark, and West Germany in the post war period. While the Model 1910 was widely sold on both civilian and military markets, the Model 1922 was considered specifically a military and police pistol, with FN offering it to individual civilians only by special order.

In 1955, the Browning Arms Company introduced the Model 1910 pistol for the American market as the Model 1955. Made in Belgium, this model was virtually identical to the European model except for the markings and grips. Importation ceased in 1968 due to the passage of stricter gun-control laws in the U.S.

Another version, the Model 1971, featured a longer barrel and slide (similar in length to the Model 1922, but with a one-piece slide), adjustable sights, a finger-rest magazine, and enlarged 'target' grips. These features were intended to comply with the Gun Control Act of 1968 which had halted import of the Model 1955.

The Hamada Type or Hamada Type Automatic handgun (浜田式 Hamada shiki?) was a semi-automatic pistol developed in 1941 for use by the Empire of Japan during World War II. Developed by Bunji Hamada, the pistol took its basic design from the Model 1910 Browning. Production occurred at the Japanese Firearms Manufacturing Company, with only minor changes made as the war progressed.

Incidents[edit]

Gavrillo Princip's FN M1910, used to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo

An FN M1910, serial number 19074, chambered in .380 ACP[2] was the handgun used by Gavrilo Princip to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914, the act that precipitated the First World War.[3] Numerous previous sources erroneously cited the FN Model 1900 in .32 calibre as being the weapon Princip used.[4] This has led to confusion over the calibre of the pistol actually used.

Paul Doumer, President of France, was assassinated by Russian emigre Paul Gorguloff on 6 May 1932 with a Model 1910.[5] The pistol is now in the Musée des Collections Historiques de la Préfecture de Police.[6] A Model 1910 was also used to assassinate Huey Long, governor of Louisiana, on 5 September 1935.[7] Dragon quest heroes 2 warriors ring. During the world wars, the FN 1910 was used by the militaries of Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Finland, Japan (private orders for Japanese officers), and by Peru and Venezuela postwar.
